9-4-25 Letter from the Superintendent

Parents,

This morning, we put the PAC into Heightened Security due to the report of a concerning statement by a student.  Heightened Security is the second tier in our protocol—we lock doors and do not allow any student traffic in the hallways until we are able to resolve a concern.  The principal immediately contacted our SRO (School Resource Officer) and investigated the concern.  It is now a disciplinary issue and we will respect the confidentiality of the student.  We do not have a safety concern at this time.  While we understand students sometimes make poor decisions without any bad intent, we still treat these situations severely because it causes disruption and can impact emotions.  We follow our handbook for discipline consequences.

At no time was any student in danger nor was any weapon on campus.  But, we take any concerning statement or report and treat it with an abundance of caution because the safety of our children is our first priority.

I want to take this moment to appreciate the trust you have in our Greenback family.  We care about our kids and we will always keep that in the forefront of our decision-making process.  In this age of social media, the calm our community shows is important because it allows our total focus to be on safety in the moment.  This is important for any safety issue that could arise…weather, fire, etc.

If you have questions, please feel free to call the building principal or the district office.

Regards,

Tony Helfrich
