Pratt High Forensics
|
Also known as Speech and Debate, the competitive Forensics Team travels throughout the Spring semester to a dozen or more tournaments. The team also hosts an annual tournament at Pratt High for visiting teams to come and compete. Team members can act, speak, and compete in the following event categories: Prose, Poetry, Impromptu Speaking, Improvised Duet Acting, Original Oration, Informative Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Duet/ Duo Acting, Humorous Solo Acting, Serious/ Dramatic Solo Acting, and/or Program of Oral Interpretation (POI). While many team members are also enrolled in the Forensics class for the Spring semester, students who want to participate but cannot fit the Forensics course into the class schedule are still very welcome and able to participate! Outside of class rehearsal requirements are dependent on whether a student is enrolled in the Forensics class or not. This engaging and sometimes challenging activity allows students the opportunity to express their inner creativity and thoughts via speaking, reading, and acting. Speech and Drama encourages strong communication skills, and students who are involved in forensics are more confident in education, college, and future careers.
