Southwest Elementary
900 W 8th St, Pratt KS 67124
Welcome to Southwest Elementary School, a PreK-3 building, in the Pratt USD 382 School District!
Southwest Lilypad Preschool provides an early childhood education for three to five year old children including cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical, cultural, and aesthetic development. The goal of our program is to support preschool aged children in the acquisition of the knowledge, skills, and behaviors needed to transition successfully into Kindergarten.
Southwest is a progressive, schoolwide Title I elementary school that serves children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade, with an average class size of 20 students. Southwest students and teachers have access to instructional technology that includes Smartboards/ Newline boards, document cameras, iPads, and Chromebooks. Students also attend music and physical education classes daily. Our elementary vocal music concerts are simply outstanding!
Teachers and students focus on rigor, relevance, and relationships within the classroom. Students receive excellent instruction in the classroom with a rigorous curriculum. Additionally, Southwest provides students with extra support in reading and math during our multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) program, to meet the individual learning needs of our students. Character education is also an important part of student development at Southwest. Students are introduced to character traits at their grade level, with reinforcement and recognition for exhibiting these traits, throughout the school year. Southwest has adopted the Zones of Regulation and Character Strong curriculums to support the social and emotional growth in our students.
Southwest parents of Kindergarten-3rd grade children have the opportunity to join our awesome Southwest PTO (parent-teacher organization) that supports our school community throughout the year. Parents can also take advantage of our Beyond the Bell after school program, which provides a snack, homework support, and enrichment activities for students in K-5th grades. 4th-5th grade students may ride the bus to Southwest to participate in the program. Children who have reached the age of 4 years old by August 31st of the current school year may participate in Beyond the Bell for that age group.
