COVID Update - March 22, 2020

Greenback Family,
First, this is a reminder that we do not have school for students this week, March 23-27, due to our preparations regarding the COVID-19 health crisis. Teachers will be working through the week to develop our Continuous Learning Plan that will adapt to each grade level. Through the end of the school year, we will be continually adapting to updated guidance from State and Federal authorities.
During this week, parents will receive a phone call from your child’s teacher as we touch base with each family to assess needs and concerns. Our partnership will put us in the best position to keep our students growing.
We will develop and communicate a schedule for students to pick up needed items from school. That information will be relayed in a future update during the week.
Please help us maximize social distancing. If at all possible, please use telephone or email to communicate questions to individual buildings. Secretaries will be available to answer the phones. But, secretaries will not have more information than is released on updates. If you need to visit personally, please schedule for an appointment with the building principal. We thank you in advance for helping us do what our State is asking us to do—minimize physical contact.
Our food service begins on Monday—we have 5 drop-off sites in town and we are delivering to Preston and Iuka. Please see the previous update for the details on sites and times. We will deliver to homes when necessary—please communicate with your building principal if there is a need.
Our Board of Education will have a special meeting to approve our Continuous Learning Plan before we submit it to the State. We will stream that meeting and send out the date and time in an update.
We know this is a stressful time for our families and our community. I believe Kansas was quick to the fight and this will put us in a good position to “flatten the curve” in our community and state. From the health experts there is consensus that we will see COVID-19 enter each community. But, we can have confidence that our extreme measures to minimize contact will slow the rate of transmission of the virus. Slowing that rate will protect our healthcare system.
