COVID Update - March 30, 2020

30 March 2020

Greenback Family,

Today we had a Special Board Meeting for the purpose of approving our Continuous Learning Plan (CLP).  If you are bored with binging Netflix, you can watch a recorded version on our webpage under “PHS Live Events.”  Principals discussed the plans for our Board.  Our CLP was passed 7-0 and we submitted it to the Kansas Department of Education.

LMS had a successful checkout of student items and technology.  Southwest is still planning its checkout for technology on Thursday.  Remember, our first steps, especially at the K-6 levels, is making sure our parents can access needed items.  Teachers are available to help if you have questions.  Teachers will continue to make contact with parents but if you have a concern please do not wait for their calls.

I want to caution parents that we are relaxing our filters on our devices so students can access some YouTube content for different lessons.  We want to make sure you are aware that you cannot depend on our filter to be as restrictive as it was previously.

We know the rollout will involve some stress for parents.  Please trust that our teachers are available to answer specific questions and help get the process started.

These are uncertain times and I know we have parents and community members dealing with financial issues related to the COVID-19 health crisis.  We want to do everything we can to make this time less stressful for parents while we keep our students moving forward.  Talk to us if you need something.  What is not uncertain is that we have Greenbacks looking out for Greenbacks!

Sincerely,

Tony Helfrich
